Join the Mitchell Center and Penn Justice Democrats in welcoming MARIANNE WILLIAMSON for a discussion of current politics and real social change. Williamson is a bestselling author, political activist, and spiritual thought leader. For over three decades Marianne has been a leader in spiritual and religiously progressive circles. She is the author of 14 books and the founder of Project Angel Food, a non-profit that has delivered more than 14 million meals to ill and dying homebound patients since 1989. The group was created to help people suffering from the ravages of HIV/AIDS. She has also worked throughout her career on poverty, anti-hunger and racial reconciliation issues.
In her latest book, A Politics of Love: A Handbook for a New American Revolution, she writes, “Our political challenges are mere symptoms of a deeper malaise and a deeper dysfunction. If we try to solve our political problems only through traditional political means, the symptoms will merely morph into different forms. The only way we can deeply address our problems is if we are willing to address them on the level of cause.”
