In addition to recognition by the Immigration & Ethnic History Society, Evan has received the University of Minnesota Graduate School's 2019 Best Dissertation Award in the Arts & Humanities. 

Evan received his Ph.D. from the UMN in 2018, prior to joining the MItchell Center. This is a considerable honor and a tribute to the excellent research that he is continuing to pursue as the Mitchell Center JMC Postdoctoral Fellow.  The award consists of a $1,000 honorarium. In addition, the UMN Graduate School plans to nominate Evan for the upcoming national Distinguished Dissertation in Arts and Humanities award given by the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), in Washington, D.C.
