On September 13, the day before Felipe Calderón moderated a panel at the "Democracy in Trouble?" Opening Conference, the former President of the United Mexican States visited "Democracy in Trouble: OAS to the Rescue," a high-school class taught in part by Penn undergraduates in the LALS program. The class was followed by a social reception. President Calderdón discussed the OAS and security in Mexico. The students were able to take pictures and ask questions about democracy in Latin America, as well as the role of the OAS in Latin American politics.
